I took a field walk yesterday.

Taking note of what will be ready for CSA next week, I squatted down and started weeding a bed of mixed greens. As I pulled misplaced arugula from around the beet greens I got dirt under my nails.

As my hands got dirty I relaxed into it. Grounding, I thought. Perhaps instinctively I knew I needed this.

My love for growing food started long ago—with tiny seeds, a patch of soil, and the belief that something magical happens when the two meet. That spark still fuels me.

Do you know that feeling? Your hands in cool soil, the earthy smell rising as it sifts through your fingers on a warm spring day? That’s more than just a nice moment—it’s called grounding. And it’s powerful.

🌎 What Is Grounding?

Grounding (or “earthing”) is the simple, ancient practice of making direct physical contact with the earth—bare hands in soil, bare feet in grass. And it turns out, it’s really good for us.

Science is catching up to what we gardeners have always known: touching the earth helps regulate our nervous systems, reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and lift our mood. It’s like nature’s reset button.

Spending even just a few minutes outside connected to the ground (bare feet on grass or hands in soil) can help calm the chaos of modern    life. And gardening? That’s grounding on steroids.

It’s the kind of experience I want to share with you—with every Certified Organic seedling we raise here at the farm. We start thousands of plants from seed, not just for our CSA, but for you—the home gardener, the veggie-lover, the curious kid with a watering can.

If you’ve never gardened before, now’s the time to jump in. And if you’re a seasoned grower, we’ve got the healthiest plant starts around to get your garden off to a strong start.

4 powerful reasons to grow your garden this year:

🌱 1. Eat more nutrient-dense, high-quality food
Grow unique, delicious varieties you won’t find in grocery stores—like rainbow heirlooms, purple beans, and sweet red shishitos. Homegrown always tastes better.

🧠 2. Learn something new (and fun!)
You’ll have a local, knowledgeable resource (hi, it’s me!) to answer questions and offer guidance. Plus, we’ve got classes and tours to help you grow with confidence.

👩‍👧 3. Make it a family adventure
Kids love to help in the garden—and when they grow it, they’re way more likely to eat it! It’s a beautiful bonding experience and a great way to teach where food really comes from.

🌞 4. Reconnect with the earth (and yourself)
Gardening gets you outside, moves your body, and puts your hands back in the soil. It’s fun, meditative, and deeply healing. The sunshine, the fresh air, the earth under your fingers—this is wellness.
